Northland Village is open to older adults who find it difficult to live on their own and who need some assistance with the activities of daily living.
Each Northland Village site features two residence buildings that house 10 private suites each (20 suites in all), along with a shared kitchen/dining area, living room, sunroom, outdoor patio, and staff offices. The two buildings are connected by a wide hallway and shared activity rooms.
All suites are private and accommodate one person each. Hoyt Lakes will include a limited number of suites connected by an adjoining door for married couples.
The facility is staffed 24 hours a day by friendly, qualified care attendants who are supervised by an RN/Manager.
The monthly fee is based on the level of care each resident needs. Many applicants may qualify for financial assistance. Staff work with applicants and their families to assess the services needed, determine costs, and give referrals for financial assistance.
Each private suite is approximately 330 square feet, with its own bath and a kitchenette area that can fit a microwave and small refrigerator. Each suite also has free cable TV and a phone jack for optional personal phone service. In Buhl and Hoyt Lakes, Internet access is available in each suite.
Residents furnish their own suites and are encouraged to decorate with their favorite décor and pictures. Window blinds are supplied.
Northland Village is smoke free and resident pets are not allowed. Supervised pets are allowed for daytime visits.
The Northland Foundation is a regional foundation that has been serving the seven counties of northeastern Minnesota since 1986. Helping older adults to remain active, valued members of their communities has always been a main priority. Providing high-quality senior housing in rural communities fits within the Foundation’s longstanding focus on supporting “aging with independence” in Minnesota’s Arrowhead Region.
